'Notions of African-Brazilian dance'
"The Afro-Brazilian cultural/religious communities have developed dance as a sophisticate, powerful tool of communication with each other and the ancestors. Teaching that dance is a strategy of preservation and translation of understandings of the world from a violently persecuted culture in which social markers of hierarchy, gender, property and family have different meanings. This class aims to reframe the suffering narrative associated with the culture for one of resistance, beauty and celebration."
