The politics of the small gesture in the age of captured attention

Biography / Biografía
Hello! I'm Coco or Consuelo, a multidisciplinary movement specialist based in Portugal. With over 25 years of experience, I thrive at the intersection of movement, art, and existence. My passion lies in crafting movement experiences for dance lovers and artists that resonate with audiences and foster sense of community. I'm a creative thinker, problem solver, and avid learner who explores techniques to make movement a learning opportunity for discovery and surprise. When I'm not thinking about life through movement, I investigate and read, seeking insights between the words to enrich my practice. (Ecuadorian, 51 years old, resident in Portugal)
Abstract / Resumen
This work invites slowness and minimal gestures as forms of political and emotional resistance. It explores “inhabiting the interval” — transitional spaces where presence deepens and detail matters. Drawing from somatic practices like the Feldenkrais Method, it reimagines action as openness rather than control. Three modes of attention—focused, immersive, and dual gaze—foster presence and connection. Slowness becomes both an artistic and ethical stance, reclaiming attention as care. The body emerges as a site of resistance, where slow movement and internal perception challenge a culture of productivity, disembodiment, and emotional spectacle.
